The Unbreakable Weapon

By: Afiqah Narizam

A motivational speaker, Dr. Ashmiza M. Ismail shared on her Instagram feed and I found this is such a beautiful sharing which a boy asked his mother “If Allah has already written everything in Luh-Mahfuz, then why should I still wish for something?” The mother answered, “Maybe on some pages Allah has written as you wish”. This sharing was nice and meaningful, is it? For me, dreams and wishes do come true. A sentence that is commonly heard or read by most of us. Do we realize that dreams do come true with our efforts and du’a? Du’a. A short and simple word yet gives the deepest meaning for those who are always attached and believe in the power of du’a. Du’a in Arabic means ‘supplication’ from دَعَا “to summon”. Allah says in the Qur’an:

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So, let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided. (2:186)

When we look a little bit deeper to this verse, have we ever wondered how close Allah’s help to us, the believer? How concerned is Allah towards His servants as He wants us to depend on Him and would love to hear our sincere prayer? His hearing is indeed close to us and He Knows every single thing about us. Yet we still depend on human beings to seek help when we are losing everything without realizing that Allah would like us to turn onto Him. It is not wrong to ask for help or advice from the people whom we trust as it is human nature to express the feelings so that it will make us feel relieved and lessen our burden. By turning to Allah, it is an indescribable feeling as it is not the same on how we expressed the feelings, our difficulties to human beings. Thus, it is our duty to get closer and know Allah deeply by practicing amar ma’ruf nahi munkar and keep believing in Allah’s promises and rewards to those who are patient.

My close friend shared about the power of du’a, which makes it as the unbreakable weapon to achieve her dreams without knowing Allah granted things beyond her expectation. She is a determined girl who always prioritizes her own self and things that she loves first. For some reasons, Allah didn’t always grant her things that she asked for because she would stop doing things if she were given instant success. At the age of 18, she was very disappointed and felt down as she was not qualified enough to pursue her studies. To be short, she got chosen to pursue in STPM and that was the turning point of her life which she believes is her new journey and started there. People would see she was a really hard-working girl, but to her, only she herself knows how she struggled every single day in order to achieve her dream to be portrayed in reality. She was able to see her old self in her friends and reflected that life has its ups and downs. She learned that good deeds will always be rewarded with good things. Finally as time goes by, she got accepted to one of her favorite universities added with her favorite course that she has dreamt for years and one of the biggest supplication is her parents’ du’a, her relationship with Allah and people around her and most importantly make a lot of du’a align with the efforts as Rome was not built in a day.

It is proven that du’a is the unbreakable weapon for us the believer and Allah surely heard our prayer as He is As-Sami (The Hearer of All). We need to trust His timing. It’s either to be granted sooner or later because Allah Knows what is best for us. Keep praying and making a lot of du’as for the things that we want most and do not get easily disappointed if we did not get what we wished for, as Allah will replace it with the best replacement which we would be grateful for. Sometimes, we need to look back from the past to fix it right for the present as it all begins with ourselves and our action in order to achieve our dream and also to gain Allah’s pleasure. Hence, always make sure we keep polishing and sharpening this ‘unbreakable weapon’ which will directly reach to Allah’s hand.
